June 1st

Today was the first full day of classes. We began with our Singapore history class at 9 am. Prof. Quek was amazing. Not only is she very intelligent, but she also has quite a straight forward sense of humor. I think her class is going to be very enjoyable. In Trude and Howie's class we discussed meritocracy and its place in societies. We compared them with pros and cons. After class we went with Prof. Quek to the bussiness canteen. I had butter chicken and rice from the Indian stand. It was awesome!

In the afternoon we went to the Asian Civilization Museum. It was very interesting, but I felt like we stayed there a little too long. But while we were there I enjoyed trying on traditional Chinese clothing and visiting a mock traditional Buddhist Temple.

After the tour of the museum we took a boat ride tour of downtown Singapore. We even got within yards of the MERLION! (what a kodak moment)

For dinner we enjoyed a traditional Vietnamese meal. My favorite part was the banana/yogurt drink they served with it.

In the evening we attended the opening performance of "Dreaming of Kuanyin, Meeting Madonna." It was interesting to say the least. I was lost most of the time as to the meaning but the dancing was amazing and the singer was very talented. I feel like with a bit more sleep I would have been able to keep up. (maybe not, hehe)

Well I am off to bed... I'm exhausted!

Lots of Love,
Sarah

PS. Sorry about the lack of pictures... I lent my dock to a friend and haven't been able to get it back yet. When I do I will be sure to upload some new pictures!
